Uzbekistan to reap good cotton harvest this year
Uznews.net – Favourable weather conditions this spring and good cotton shoots promise a good harvest in Uzbekistan this year. The UK-based Cotton Outlook magazine forecasts that the country will produce over 1 million tonnes of cotton fibre in 2010.

Despite Uzbek officials’ rhetoric about increasing the share of cotton processed domestically, Cotton Outlook, which helps the Uzbek government to sell the crop in the global markets, expressed the confidence that Uzbekistan would meet global demand for cotton thanks to a bumper harvest expected in 2010.

The publication also said that Uzbekistan had started preparations for the sixth cotton fair in Tashkent that has been held in the country each October since 2005.

The Uzbek Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade Ministry has commissioned the Cotton Outlook magazine to write a special supplement on the development of the cotton and textile industry in Uzbekistan.
