Uznews.net – An exchange of fire was heard in the centre of Tashkent near the Bunyodkor underground station last night; the area has now been fenced off and isolated by police.

Witnesses said that shootings were heard between midnight and two o’clock in the morning of 8 April. Later they saw police cordon off the area and ambulances and fire engines parked in the area.

Nothing is clear as what happened there last night. The Prosecutor-General’s Office’s press service is keeping silent, as there was no-one competent to explain the situation.

Security was beefed up at the Bunyodkor station, and witnesses said that a company of armed soldiers was heading to the area from the other part of the city.
